History

People bathed in Valser long before it was bottled. Water from nature’s very own factory was used as a source of hygiene and refreshment. Even today, it emerges from the rocks at a temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius. The Ancient Romans also appreciated the unique qualities of the mineral water from Vals. St. Peter’s spring is mentioned for the first time in official records from the year 1622.
The more recent history of Valser mineral water began in 1960, and things have not looked back since then:
1960 | The two entrepreneurs Hess and Schrauder rediscover St. Peter’s spring. The success story of Valser mineral water begins on that day. |

1961 | Valser is bottled in ‘Haus Adula’ and distributed by Valser Service in a unique system of home delivery. |
1966 | The first deliveries to retail outlets begin. |
1968 | Construction of the first large-scale bottling plant at the current location in Boda. |
1970 | First Valser commercial on Swiss TV. |
1983 | Valser starts selling its products to restaurants. |
1984 | Valser Naturelle is launched as the still counterpart to the fizzy Valser Classic. |
1985 | Valser expands northwards, exporting to Germany for the first time. |
1990 | Launch of LIMELITE cool lemon water in a glass bottle designed by Luigi Colani. LIMELITE was one of the first flavoured mineral waters. |
1992 | Valser Classic is sold for the first time in PET bottles. |
2001 | Mario Botta creates ‘La Bottiglia’ for Valser in PET bottles. |
2002 | Launch of LIMELITE sweet. Takeover of Valser Mineralquellen AG by Coca-Cola. |
2003 | In addition to Valser Classic, Valser Naturelle is now available in PET as well. |
2004 | Valser starts exporting to Russia. |
2005 | Valser Viva is launched in three flavours. Pear & Melissa, Lemon & Herb, Lime & Lemongrass |
2007 | Launch of Valser Viva in Blueberry & Honey. The first bottles of Valser make their way onto the markets of eastern Europe and a few even to Japan. |
2008 | Valser is the official water of the UEFA EURO 2008TM in Switzerland and Austria. |
2009 | Valser Viva is launched in the flavours Viva Rhubarb & Mint and Mango & Guava |
2010 | Launch of Valser Silence from the new St. Paul’s spring |
